KISS DANIEL'S "BUGA" RE-ENACTS AND GIVES A BOOST TO A FADING MUSIC TRADITION AND HYPE TOOL

More than any new music release or dropped hit in recent times,Kiss Daniel's "BUGA" renacted and gave a boost to a fast fading tool in the promotion and hyping of the release of new music material to the market for public consumption or for an Artiste's fan base which more often that not propels it to a massive hit and a much wider acceptance and audience.Whats is this old marketing tool of yore, that must have at this time be tickling the threshold of curiosity in your mind and then making you want to pop that question, what is it?The suspense and dilly dallying  up to this point is actually deliberate to charge up your curiosity and with some luck get your rapt attention and mind space and focus.

It is common practice in the past to creat a dance routine to usher in the release of a musical hit, sometimes it's a strategic and conscious decision and on the other hand it's an unconscious development that is evoked or triggered by  the pulling power and estactic  euphoria of the music. It can also come in form of a well choreographed dance or a free flowing dance steps that interprets the music in specific ways but with loose configuration and subject to individual flare and adaptation. This usually creats an added hype and mystic to the music.

Philadelphia Singer Chubby Checker whose real name is Ernest Evan's did it in the 60s with "The Twist",a dance routine that took the world by storm, spreading from America to continental Europe and to the rest of world, its charactisctics being the twisting of the waist in quick rhythms  with the slight coming together of the thighs with a loose arms akimbo  in support a rhythmic swing as well,it was also subject to uniquic individual flare with the Ladies at this time being more adept and fluid. This solidified Philadelphia's role a major trendsetter in popular music in this period.Fela Ankulapo Kuti came with a special dance step and routine to accompany the release of his monster hit "Open and Close" here again it is characterised by the rhythmic and carefully timed opening and closing of the legs to beat and sometimes for those with much flare and dexterity for the dance the arms and head are joined in the routine.James Brown had one for his "Sex Machine" ever green hit so also was Congolese Superstar Awilo Longomba with "Gate le coin", Eddy Floyd with "Knock on Wood", Carl Douglas with "Kungfu Fighting,Anita Ward with "Ring my Bell"Tina Charles with  with "Love to Love but my Baby loves to dance",Donner Summer with her various Disco hits that had special disco dance routines to go with it,and finally the great Michael Jackson with dance moves for "Off the Wall","Beat it" "Day and Night","Rock my World","Bad",and his siblings,The Jacksons had quiet a few as well with the Great Elvis Presley with dance routines of his own that sent some few shock waves during his dominant era, hits like "Swade Shoes" Hokithong Woman readily comes to mind,The Temptations,Sir Shina Peters with his AfroJuju experimentations,Cameo with "New York" and its tailored dance moves,Manu Dibango and Soul Makosa,,Run DMC,A Tribe Called Quest,Yvonne Chaka Chaka,Sierra Leonian Star Bunny Mark and Jamican Dancehall sensation Sean Paul capping thjngs up here.

Enter Nigeria's Afrobeats hegemony and royalty of Wizkid,Burna Boy,Davido and Olamide "Badoo",who has taken this revamped and rejigged  music genre  and taken the world by storm, churning out a "barrage" of hits and chart toppers at will and almost effortlessly. And here we are observing in awe as People acrossboard and the racial and continental spectrum in hysteria, absorb and gets fed on Afrobeats rhythms mostly from the reservoir of the aforementioned artistes.Tiwa Savage,                  P-Square,Tuface Idibia ,Techno (who collaborated with Kiss Daniel on the monster hit,BUGA),Yemi Alade,Mr Eazy,Runtown and young entrants like Aryee Starr and Joe Boy, all contributed their bit in defining the global music landscape in which Afrobeats is in prime visibility and acceptance, coasting ahead in a wild storm that so far cannot be contained with its sweet and energetic rhythmic pleasure and excitement.

In its evolvement,it created and carried along with it, different dance steps that also received global acclaim, with multitudes, dance academies and instructors burrowing and aligning themselves to the perfection of copying these various dance routines as they are churned out.In tracing the development and ascension of Afrobeats to the pinnacle of global music ,its dance creation and association during this  trajectory includes Shakiti Bobo,Kukere,Shaku Shaku,Azonto,Zanku,Alingo,Skelewu and Shoki which were adopted and held sway at different stages in the redefining journey and compendium of Afrobeats.Laced with great excitement and pulsating vibes,an obvious deviation from the norm, they were a delight to watch as those with the dexterity and flare showcase their talents and skills on dance floors and arenas across the world.

It should be noted however that the difference in referencing,  between Fela's original creation of Afrobeat is the addition of "s" to the new bunched up, regenerated and rejuvenated music emancipation called Afrobeats .

After a long loll in which it appears that the dance routines and choreographed moves were now becoming a relic as there was nothing new by way of direct link to a specific music entrant. The likes of Skaku Skaku have become belaboured and obviously loosing its vibe and hold on the Party and dance floor faithfuls then gbam, like a bolt in the skies,Kiss Daniel introduces a game changer in BUGA.

Kiss Daniel whose real name is Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe working in collaboration with his good friend Teckno dropped a monster hit called BUGA along with an equally sensational dance called BUGA, a feat that has not been accomplished for sometime now.

Not in recent times have we seen the release of an E-Album,CD or Vinyl creating a seamless and intensive bond, association or marriage between an Artiste, his song and a dance craft,a promotional and hype synergy that was hitherto believed  to be moribund and out of consideration in any marketing strategy.but it worked perfectly for Daniel and his team, enroute topping the charts, creating a mystic, and sailing on its wing flight and now Kiss Daniel who had been around for a while but never made it this big is perched majestically and comfortably on the head winds of a soaring song and success.

  1. Kizz Daniel BUGA opened a new and very wonderful chapter of music and easy dance challenge in the era of Afro Beat.
BUGA, when played is one I've come to find out that is very irresistible regardless the age or gender.
This very song and it's dance challenge I believe is going to take a very long while to be beaten in the music industry. I simply just love it and could never resist the temptation to move to it 😃
