OLYMPIC MEN'S BASKETBALL FINALS

The USA beat France 98-87 in front  of a Star studded cast of attendies that included Emmanuel and Brigette Macron,FIFA's Infantino, Thierry Henry and a vociferous partisan crowd of Basketball faithfuls and enthusiasts.


Call it cockiness, finesse, power,grit, talent, confidence, believe and determination, the US Team had it all in the mix.


And When it mattered the most, the so called old brigade of players stepped on the hot plate to be counted. Captain LeBron James, the fulcrum and driver of the team, Kevin Durant with his calming and confidence boosting barrage of shots and the cutting-edge and glorious Vice Captain of the team Steph Curry who single handedly picked up the team when the going got really tough in the Semi final and in the Gold wining final game. He was a player "possessed" and on fire, dropping a barrage of big shots one after the other when it mattered most, and when the team needed it. He has been relatively quiet and calm in the build up to the last two games, preferring to be a silent but an effective team player, playing according to the dictates of the game and needs of team. What a Player! For me the ultimate team player who never hid his admiration in words and action for his team Captain LeBron James. Curry a definite "Hall of Famer"and in my opinion, the secret weapon of the team, proved his mettle and sealed his legacy with his all round leadership and confident display at the Paris Olympics.


In a US Basketball team of several feats and records, extending the boundaries of History with a fifth consecutive Gold medal in an uninterrupted US Olympic Gold medal run, Kevin Durant comes off all these with his own unique glory as the only Athlete with four team sport Gold medal at the Olympics.. Kudos KD, leaving the Olympics on a high note as we are not sure we will see you at the Los Angeles Games. It must be said though that this team should also go down on record to have faced the most sophisticated opposition in the anals of Team USA participation at the Olympics with other teams equally packed with huge NBA presents and talent. 


Joel Embiid, the Cameroon born energetic and exciting player with dual American and France  citizenship had to endure and rise above the boos from the piqued French crowd, who felt betrayed by his American allegiance to have a decent game at the finals, hopefully we will see more of him in such high profile games, going forward.


France is likely to be on the receiving end of yet another bashing by the US later today as the Female Basketball team  of both countries clash in the Olympic Basketball finals but who knows the world is full of surprises and shocks, especially at the Oympics.

 Many are ignorant of what ACADEMIC WORK is all about. Academic work is not FACTORY WORK.  ASUU strike is not  a strike by Post-office workers, or strike by Textile workers.
